The Doom 4 Beta System Requirements are Now Available

Doom 4 is just around the corner, or at least the beta is. The highly anticipated game will continue the horrific gore fest that millions of gamers have loved since the release of Doom back in 1993. Since then, there have been multiple versions of the game, with the latest technological leap being Doom 3 in 2004. Since then, video game graphics have advanced significantly, but thankfully that doesn’t mean that you will need a supercomputer to run the upcoming Doom 4 Beta.

Id software and publisher Bethesda Softworks have recently announced that the Beta will run on mild system specs, which will allow even some budget PC gamers to get a taste of what the next generation of Doom will be like.

Minimum and Recommended Specs for the Doom 4 Beta

The developers have released minimum and recommended specs, with the minimum specs intended for players who want to run the game at 720p resolution. If you’re planning to run the game, you will need Microsoft Windows 7, 8.1, or 10. 32 bit versions are not supported, so you will need a 64 bit copy. If you’re running an Intel CPU, you will need at least an i5 2400, whereas if you have an AMD processor, an FX-8230 is the bare minimum. When it comes to memory, 8GB is required. Faster RAM should be able to provide you with an FPS boost. Finally, you will need at least an Nvidia GTX 720 with 2GB of RAM, or a Radeon HD7870, again with 2GB of RAM.

If you want to run the game in all of its 1080p glory, you’ll need a little bit more power. On the CPU front, you’ll need at least an i5 3770, or an AMD FX-8350. Memory is the same 8GB that is required for minimum specs, and again you will need a 64 bit Windows operating system. Graphics card requirements are also raised. Nvidia card recommendations start with the GTX 970 with 4GB of RAM, or the Radeon R9 290, also with 4GB of RAM.

The game requires 22GB of storage space for install, although you will need double that amount available when you download the game. The game will be distributed through steam on the PC.

If you meet the requirements and you have beta access, you will be able to play the pre-release version between March 31 and April 3, 2016. The game is slotted for an Early May release on PC, Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4.
